Brand New Live Music in Worthing at The Beach House

We’re keeping our Thursday nights of live music in Worthing alive and kicking

If you’re familiar with life at The Beach House, you’ll know about Beach House Music Club, the Thursday soirée featuring fantastic live music in worthingtunes played by Tim Keegan and his musician friends in our cosy bar. Though Beach House Music Club is on a well earned break, we’re keeping live music in Worthing on a Thursday alive and kicking with some Brighton based acts guaranteed to get your toes tapping.

We were excited to welcome Madi Lane on 24th February, and it wasn’t just a one off – Madi’s going to be joining us on the last Thursday of every month! Madi’s beautiful voice really is too good to miss, and she did a fantastic job of serenading us all with acoustic covers, as well as some of her original tracks. We can’t wait to see her again this month!

We’ve also got something pretty special planned for this Thursday (16th March) too. Areacode 273, consisting of Andy on guitar, Paul on bass (and guitar), and Richard on accordion, will be with us from 8pm. Areacode 273 (so called thanks to their Brighton location) will be playing a live selection of Blues, Cajun, Old Timey, Skiffle, Some Jazzy Stuff, Dylan, The Stones, Towns, JJ Cale, Hank, Willie, and Good Time Music. It’s going to be truly something different, and we’re very much looking forward to it!

Thursday is also our Steak Night, meaning you can get steak frites and a beer or glass of house wine for just £12. Double win! Join us from 8pm on Thursday 16th March to see Areacode’s debut at The Beach House, and as always, keep an eye on our Facebook page for news about live music in Worthing at our seafront bar.

Half Term Activities in Worthing

There are lots of half term activities in Worthing to keep everyone amused

Half term is nearly upon us, and though the February school break can sometimes be difficult to fill, in the coming week there are plenty of half term activities in Worthing and the surrounding area to keep your little ones occupied.

Worthing Museum has loads going on throughout the year, which includes activities for kids during half terms too. Their workshops over the week include puppets, bird box making, storytelling teddies and fossil hunting. There’s also a Family Art Friday!

Worthing Ice Rink returned to Steyne Gardens in November last year, but there’s still time to enjoy it before it goes again. It’s open from 10am until 9pm, and family tickets are just £29!

There’s plenty on at The Dome to keep everyone entertained too, including Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday showings of The Lego Batman Movie, Sing, and Beauty and The Beast (for slightly older half-termers).

RSOPA, the Worthing based Performing Arts School, is running a whole week of fun activity days that you can book in to, including Annie Day, Harry Potter Day, Star Wars Day, and Friday Fun Day. They cover activities like acting scenes, using props, and themed crafts and games.

Slightly further afield at Squires Garden Centre on A24 at Washington, there’s ‘Create and Grow’ owl money box painting and prize winning opportunities from 10am-4pm all week.

If you fancy a proper trip out in the car, you could head to Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, which never disappoints when it comes to amusing the kids (and the adults!) For the winter half term, they’re hosting plenty of creative activities and countryside skills workshops including creating a green man collage, following their exciting green trail, and hearing fascinating folklore stories!

Of course, if you need to refuel for your half term activities in Worthing, look no further than The Beach House. We’re designed for all the family – our kids menu will keep smaller tummies happy, we have a great selection of mains and drinks for adults, and even the dog is welcome! We’ll be open from 12pm every day of the half term too.

Beach House Kids Menu in Worthing

Keep the whole family happy with our homemade kids menu in Worthing

kids menu in WorthingWhen you’re out as a family, it can be hard to find somewhere to eat that ticks all the boxes for everyone. That’s what we aim to do at the Beach House, providing good food, a cosy atmosphere, and very importantly, a tasty kids menu in Worthing. Even the dog’s welcome!

Pleasing smaller tummies is a fine art, but at The Beach House, we reckon we’ve nailed it. Being by the sea, we could hardly ignore a classic like fish and chips, so we’ve got our homemade fish goujons on our kids menu. This is in addition to other guaranteed appetite pleasers such as locally made sausages, grilled chicken strips, and a kids version of our famous burger. For those fancying a lighter option, there’s our houmous dip served with carrot sticks, cucumber and cherry tomatoes with toasted sourdough.

Our kids menu in Worthing is served to children up to 12 years old with a choice of cordial drink. We can substitute fries for salad on any kids meal – just ask the staff when you order. See the whole menu here.

Brand New Weekly Worthing Quiz Night at The Beach House

Weekly Worthing quiz night starts at The Beach House on Tuesday 31st January

Following the success of our Christmas quiz at The Beach House last month, we’ve decided that we’d like to test the brain boxes of our Worthing customers every week – every Tuesday, to be exact.

13892137_1751506458424403_1082084398863241176_nWe’re enlisting the help of accomplished quizmaster Gareth E. Owen, who also hosts the very popular quiz at our sister bar, The Corner House, on a Monday evening. Gareth has been quizzing in Worthing for a number of years, and is famous for being fun, friendly, and fantastic at testing our general knowledge! He also does a great deal for charity, and as with his other quizzes in Worthing, this new weekly event will be raising money for Superstar Arts.

Superstar Arts was founded in 2012 in order to create new and exciting opportunities for those with learning difficulties by providing high quality, innovative artistic experiences, and encourage unique ideas, confidence building and social exploration. They work in partnership with similar groups and organisations to provide volunteer and work placement opportunities, and further strengthen the support network for people with learning disabilities in the Worthing area. Their projects are funded by grants from local authorities and charities, and from the fees paid by our participants, in addition to kind donations from local people. You can find out more about their fantastic work and how to donate over on their website.

Join us from 8pm on Tuesday 31st Jan for this quiz’s debut night!

Cask Marque Beer in Sussex at The Beach House

We’re very proud to serve Cask Marque Beer in Sussex at The Beach House

caskmarque-logo-webWhen you’re a bar or pub that cares passionately about the beer you offer to customers, a Cask Marque is high on your list of accreditations you want to receive. It’s an independent award for pubs and bars serving great quality cask ale, and is based on the temperature, appearance aroma and taste of the ale served. With all this in mind, you’ll understand why we’re thrilled to say that The Beach House is a Cask Marque accredited bar.

Cask Marque is run by brewers, pub groups and trade bodies with the aim of improving beer quality through an accreditation scheme. Qualified assessors visit pubs and bars around the country to determine their eligibility for a Cask Marque. One of their criteria, for example, is that the temperature of the beer must be between 10 and 14 degrees to score full marks. They leave no stone unturned when it comes to appraising ale!

To be awarded this badge of quality backs up our passion and determination to serve only the best local ale to the people of Worthing. We’re so proud to serve Cask Marque Beer in Sussex at The Beach House.

The Beach House are Proud to Be a Ridgeview Wine Stockist in Sussex

The Beach House are proud to be a Ridgeview Wine Stockist in Sussex

We’ve always championed local producers at The Beach House, and that’s no different when it comes to our wine list. We’re proud to be a Ridgeview Wine stockist in Sussex, serving Bloomsbury to the wine lovers of Worthing.

Based in Ditchling, near Brighton, Ridgeview produces sparkling wines right here in Sussex, in their winery nestled at the foot of the South Downs. Their wines have gained world class reputation, and have won many national and international medals and trophies.  The team partially attribute their success to the full flavoured grapes that can be grown here in Sussex. Because our nights are chilly, English grapes have super-acidity, which bodes very well for quality sparkling wine!

pexels-photo-160123The Ridgeview wine we’ve particularly taken a liking to is the Bloomsbury, which is their signature blend. It’s golden in colour, with a ‘fine, persistent mousse’. Chardonnay dominates, and pinot adds depth, creating a balanced finish. It’s the perfect accompaniment to shellfish, which suits us down to the ground here by the sea! It’s great for celebrations too.

Find our full wine list here, and pop down soon and try a glass of this outstanding Sussex wine!
